Experience
Margaret Mary Layne has been the CEO of her company Layne Consulting since 2015.
She began her career as Legal Assistant specializing in all aspects of corporate, real estate, health, and tax law while also dealing with estate planning and general legal work. After that she cultivated her knowledge of economic development in her role as Vice President of the Huntington Area Development Council, specializing in real estate and industrial park development while also working with the manufacturing community, developing relationships with business, nonprofit, and government leadership.
From there she served as the Executive Director and Director of Development for the Huntington Museum of Art for 17 years. In these roles, she was responsible for the complete operation of the museum including educational programming, community engaging exhibitions, development and donor relations, financial operations, endowment investment and management, facility care and management, retail shop operations, revenue budgetary goals, fundraising, public relations, and marketing.
After leaving an impact on the Huntington Museum of Art, Margaret Mary moved into the role of City Manager for the City of Huntington where she directly managed the finance, purchasing, IT, and HR departments as well as several major economic development projects.
She is a Huntington native, Marshall University graduate and an avid supporter of the arts and humanities in West Virginia.
